Welcome Back!

It looks like we are almost half way through the year! We were so excited to see the kids on Wednesday and hear about everything that they did over winter break. The children were also excited to see their friends and share with them about their break. It seems that everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable break at home with their families. The children stayed busy by playing in the snow, going to movie theaters, going out of town and a variety of other activities.

This week was spent getting back into the swing of our routines and daily schedules. Some of the activities that the children participated in this week were making snowmen by tearing pieces of  white, brown, and black construction paper, making snowflakes using q-tips and coffee filters, and drawing pictures that illustrated what they did over winter break. We put all their drawings together in a book called What I did over Winter Break. The children enjoyed listening to the story Snowflake Bentley which is about Wilson Bentley who discovered that no two snowflakes are alike!
Next week, we will be learning about polar animals and their habitats!

The children have been very busy in BKW. They have been taking a closer look at themselves and graphing their hair color and eye color. They also played a game of beginning sound Bingo and played a counting game using pennies. The kids also completed counting worksheets that helped them work on number identification and one to one correspondence.
